Hands-On AI Innovation: Maximum Group Digital Ignites Student Potential at TUT AI Week
On 15 July 2025, Maximum Group Digital and Augmented Intelligence hosted a hands-on AI workshop by their very own AI wiz, Jean van Rooy, for ICT students at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) – Emalahleni Campus for the TUT AI Week. The event marked a vital step in bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical student experience, equipping youth with the tools to thrive in South Africa’s digital economy.
Empowering Youth with Practical AI Skills
The workshop focused on how to apply Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to real-world problems through the Augmented Intelligence API platform. Students interacted with a user-friendly Stream lit interface to:
- Upload their own course materials
- Train AI agents on those documents
- Receive intelligent, context-aware answers through a chat interface
This interactive session demonstrated that AI isn’t reserved for coders in corporate towers, it’s accessible, usable, and designed for real impact.
